Zucchini Ricotta Cheesecake

FOOD AND DRINK : FOOD
This has been a favorite recipe ever since I initially posted it in 2008. I threw together a zucchini-flecked ricotta cheesecake after a summer visit to the farmers' market. The green and yellow squash skins along with a nice amount of chopped dill visually pepper the interior of this savory cake. I used just enough egg to hold things together, creating a simple batter made primarily of ricotta cheese but also flavored with a bit of garlic, shallots, lemon zest, and a few straggler ingredients

25 West Village Restaurants to Try During Pride Week

FOOD AND DRINK : FOOD
Eater’s senior critic offers choices from cheap to expensive in the West Village No doubt the West Village is one of the city's loveliest neighborhoods, composed of stately brownstones dating from the 1840s through the 1880s, trim storefronts, a country church with a flower garden, and reclaimed port and industrial architecture turned into lofts, galleries, and coffee shops. Two centuries ago it was a remote farming village that became a refuge for city dwellers fleeing cholera. But gaze a

Study Says Minimum Wage Hike Kills NYC Restaurant Jobs — But It's Suspect
42
FOOD AND DRINK : FOOD
The report is funded by a restaurant industry lobbyist group A recent report out of the Post sounds pretty bad for restaurants in the city — it claims that the minimum wage hike has already screwed up growth in the industry. The number of jobs at full-service restaurants grew just 1.3 percent in 2016, while fast-food restaurants saw 3.4 percent job growth, according to the report. But while rising labor costs have indeed been impacting restaurants, don’t look to this study as proof. The g
